Theatre Etiquette Unmasked

How should you show up for rehearsals? What’s the inside scoop on what to do at professional auditions? Does it matter if you’re a little intoxicated when you enter the theatre space? Ah, theatre etiquette.

Author Margarette Joyner wonders what happened to it. In her new book Theatre Etiquette Unmasked, Joyner cuts to the chase, tells it as it should be with no sugarcoating: There are rules of etiquette even for theatre. From rehearsals through performances, Joyner lists the things to know, the things to do, yes, the things you should not do, and the things no longer being taught in theatre circles.  Get ready for etiquette rules that will shift how you show up in theatre.

Cadence Theatre Company is delighted to reveal a first look at Margarette Joyner's Still Fighting. The #sitelinesBLM team has been in stealth mode. But we're #stillfighting in our collective mission to produce quality and inspiring content about the stories happening in new seeing places that deepen our intervisibility in this ongoing quest for freedom.

MESSAGE FROM AN ANCESTOR
Message From an Ancestor is a compelling and riveting story chronicling the life of the young Chaku, kidnapped from her loving and protective African village, becoming part of the terrors of the Middle Passage, then enslavement in America. Yet, Chaku remains unbowed and unbroken. The piece, in two acts, also introduces us to the determined Ayo, Chaku’s beloved daughter. Through the movement of their lives, we are jolted by truth, enraged by disrespect, and encouraged by the forces of love, pride, heritage, and hope.

Joyner weaves a powerful tale of love and resilience, while reminding us of the power of ancestral strength and wisdom.
